Eric Cantona Bio

Country: France
Club: Auxerre, Marseille, Manchester United
Trophies: He won four Premiership titles in five years with Man U.
History: Éric Daniel Pierre Cantona (born May 24, 1966) is a French former footballer of the 1990s. He ended his professional footballing career at Manchester United where he won four Premiership titles in five years, including two league and FA Cup "doubles". Cantona is often regarded as having played a major 'talismanic' role in the revival of Manchester United as a footballing powerhouse. In 2001 he was voted their player of the century, and to this day United fans refer to him as "Eric the King".

Key Skill: An absolute genius! Just seems to play with a confidence and air that he can do anything and he makes his teammates better - they too come to play with his confidence. The team he plays on builds on that.

Cantona Quotes:

"Whatever happens, there are always things you could have done better. You score two goals and you usually feel you could have done better.  You score two goals and you usually feel you could have scored a third. That's perfectionism. That's what makes you progress in life."

"A good goal is one that is important and beautiful."

"Leaving a club is like leaving a woman. When you have nothing left to say, you go."

"An artist in my eyes, is someone who can lighten up a dark room.I have never and will never find difference between the pass from Pele to Carlos Alberto in the final of the World Cup in 1970 and the poetry of the young Rimbaud, who stretches cords from steeple to steeple and garlands from window to window. There is in each of these human manifestations an expression of beauty which touches us and gives us a feeling of eternity."
