If there ever should have been a red card in the game between Brazil and the Ivory Coast it should have been for the brutal tackle by Cheik Tiote on Elano, not for Kaka's 'elbow'.
Hopefully it turns out that Elano is alright, but it didn't look good at all when you saw the replays. He was stretched off from the game after scoring again for Brazil - with Kaka laying the ball back to him perfectly.
It was clearly a studs up tackle, with Tiote's boot up, and going right into Elano's shin, which usually earns a straight red card. Fortunately, the boot did go into Elano's shin guards, and they may have saved him from a broken leg, absorbing the tackle. They showed Elano limping into the locker room with the help of some Brazilian coaches. I'd be surprised if he's able to play in the next game though.
