Jamie Donley of Leyton Orient hits the cross bar with a left footed shot from more than 35 yards away in the 2024-25 English FA Cup, Fourth Round versus Manchester City. Leyton Orient FC are in 6th place in League One. And that is why soccer tournaments like the FA Cup are beloved in world football.
The Tottenham Hotspur loanee with an incredible effort from distance that ends up in the net to give Leyton Orient FC the opening goal against Manchester City.
Watch the brilliant first time, long range strike by Jamie Donley in the video below. He doesn’t hesitate, and takes the shot right away. Also, catch the Leyton Orient steward in the video. He couldn’t believe it! Both hands on his head in disbelief.

Unfortunately, all Manchester City goalkeeper Stefan Ortega could do was attempt to get a hand on the shot by Donley and find the ball go off his back and into his own goal.
Moreover, it is Nico Gonzalez who loses the ball at half field that created the goal scoring opportunity. Gonzalez fumbles his control initially and can’t recover.
Some Manchester City players are calling for a foul, but it would’ve been a soft one if called. As a top level play you can’t lose the soccer ball in that position. Although five minutes later Bernardo Silva would replace González because of an injury.
However, the Donley long range strike was deemed an own goal by Ortega, but really Donley should’ve received credit. His thinking and awareness to take this shot from that distance and, first time, deserves a ton of credit.
Later, Donley had a goal line clearance against Manchester City. Give Donley a weekly raise immediately!
Finally, Leyton Orient fans will create songs about the Donley long distance strike if they can hold on and win the game.
Update: Regrettably for Leyton Orient, Manchester City would get a goal from Abdukodir Khusanov in the 56th minute and another goal in the 79th minute from Kevin De Bruyne to win the game 2-1. Additionally, Manchester City would finish the game with nearly 74% possession. Pep Guardiola can sleep soundly through the night!
