Cremaschi Flick to Messi

Cremaschi Flick to Messi

Cremaschi flick to Messi: With just this flick like touch Benjamin Cremaschi should be a steady player with the United States national team. I’m half kidding, but not really.

Cremaschi has that bit of Gio Reyna in him. Where he does the unexpected and plays in such a smooth manner. It is just a genius flick by Cremaschi. Eyes in the back of his head type of stuff frolm Cremaschi

At first I thought he backheeled the soccer ball back to Messi. But it is more like a flick with the top of his foot – his instep. Take a look at the Cremaschi flick and the whole play in the video below.

Cremaschi scored in about the 83rd minute, having just come on in the 75th minute to replace Julian Gressel. So he was feeling it. I wonder if Messi was yelling for him to backheel the ball to him or just letting him know he was there.

If you watch this play from the start though, you see how poorly New England is defending. They let Messi have time and space and get his head up. They are nearly 10 feet away from him as he looks to chip the ball into the box area, where Luis Suarez awaits.

Moreover, Carles Gil lets 36 year old and greatest player to ever play play, Lionel Messi, run past him with ease. Sprint past him, actually. And even Dylan Borrero, on the outside of the play, watches it all unfold. When he could have stepped inside to try and stop Messi.

Cremaschi is a young player to watch. Will he stay at Inter Miami or go to Europe. Ideally, he stays with Inter Miami while the four Barcelona stars are still playing and learns as much as he can from them before he goes to a bigger club in Europe.

Update: It seems Cremaschi, smartly, is always looking for Messi on the field. This quote from Goal.com.

“He doesn’t talk much, right?” Cremaschi explained to Fulham’s Tim Ream on The American Dream podcast. “But he talks with his looks. Like he’ll look at you and you’ll be like ‘Oh alright’. Literally in the field, I’m obviously constantly looking at him to see where he’s positioned because I play by his side.

So obviously when he comes in, I need to create some space for him or maybe attract some players there so he can have some space. Different little movements that I need to do to satisfy his game. Obviously if we find him with time and space, it’s a goal chance literally.”
