Brazil’s Hernanes pulls a De Jung/Eric Cantona worthy flying kick to the chest of France’s Benzema and is promptly shown a red card. Whereas in the 2010 World Cup final, where De Jung’s karate kick to the chest of Xabi only received a yellow card, Hernanes is shown the door. Benzema shows his skill in juggling over one defender only to have Hernanes karate kick him in the chest with his studs.
Really, I don’t know what Hernanes was thinking. Why does he have his foot so high up? I understand that this was just his 3rd international match for Brazil, maybe he was a little excited, but this was just not necessary. France went on to win the match 1-0 due largely to the fact that Brazil had to play most of the game with ten men.
Was this all because he hates France’s new jerseys? Sure, they’re a little bit different and maybe a tad snooty, but that’s the French style. There’s no need to get so upset about it.
Yes, it’s true that Brazil’s new jersey are much more traditional and classy – no need to karate kick someone though.
