After losing their first game to Switzerland, many people in the press were looking for someone to blame for Spain’s struggles in the tournament, and many were blaming Sara Carbonero, saying her presence at the tournament was making Casillas nervous in goal. So, looks like that wasn’t the case as Spain wins the World Cup title for the first time in its history. And Casillas was a big reason why.

Casillas was named the best goalkeeper in the World Cup tournament, winning the Golden Glove award. A very well deserved honor, considering he made big saves for Spain against Paraguay, including a penalty kick, as well as making key saves in the final.
Casillas is unique in just how small he is for a normal goalkeeper. But his size doesn’t hold him back. And Casillas is so quick, cat like in his reactions, that not being taller doesn’t hinder him that much. Really, his ability to read the game and know what’s going to happen beforehand makes him a world class keeper.
