What a star Dani Alves is for eating the banana thrown at him. And more so, what an incredible player he was during his time at Barcelona. Him and Messi together on the wing were unstoppable and had a mind meld like understanding of playing give and goes and keeping the ball. Just their long distance juggling warm up routine was amazing in and of itself.
This is what Alves told the BBC about eating the banana that was thrown at him:
“We have suffered this in Spain for some time. You have to take it with a dose of humor,” Alves said.
“Barcelona wishes to express its complete support and solidarity with Dani Alves following the insults he was subject to,” a club statement read.
“Barcelona urges all clubs to continue fighting against the blight on the game which any kind of aggression against a sportsperson on the basis of their race represents.”
