Robbie Fowler snorting the touchline after he scores: The famous line sniffing goal celebration by Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler. That was quite a team that Liverpool had with Fowler, Steve McManaman, John Barnes and Jamie Redknapp. Liverpool was playing the tiki taka style of football before there was tiki taka at Barcelona. The way Liverpool knocked the ball around in little triangles. Liverpool kept possession of the soccer ball before it became so popularized by Pep Guardiola and others.
I guess the whole Fowler sniffing celebration was a reaction to what Everton fans had said about him using cocaine.
From the Guardian: “Fowler’s inflammatory 1999 Merseyside derby goal celebration, in which he appeared to snort the penalty box white line, was dismissed by his manager as the striker simply “pretending to eat the grass”. Everton fans had previously accused Fowler of taking cocaine.”

Liverpool tortured opponents with their give and goes and short passing game. Oh, and it helps to have a player like Robbie Fowler who can score goals. The video just perfectly captures the moment, what with McManaman’s long hair and trying to pull his friend up off the line after he snorts it.
Liverpool during that period of time were just fun to watch ping around the ball. They almost teased and tortured their opponents with their passing game.
Take a look at the video below of Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler sniffing the touchline after Everton fans had said he was sniffing cocaine.
Robbie Fowler Historic Cocaine Sniff Celebration
Fowler earned the nickname “God” from the Anfield crowd, becoming a club legend due to his ruthlessness in front of goal.
Again, Robbie said this sniffing line celebration was in reaction to Everton fans who had insulted him with false accusations of drug use. He got a four-match suspension his sniffing celebration. A ban that does seem pretty excessive, really. It’s not like he injured someone with a bad or reckless tackle.
Hopefully people remember more just how good Fowler was at scoring goals and not his sniffing the line celebration.
