What is Pep Guardiola’s soccer coaching philosophy? It has a lot to do with freedom, actually. Thierry Henry didn’t spend a lot of time playing at Barcelona, but he enjoyed playing there and the freedom that Guardiola’s coaching philosophy provided its players. And who wouldn’t enjoy playing football with the likes of Messi, Iniesta, Xavi and so on.
When Henry played with Barcelona under Guardiola they spread team’s out, stretching them wide, using the whole soccer field. In the final third there was more freedom to make runs in behind the defense and combine with players with give and goes. It was about trusting your teammate and believing he was going to find you with that killer goal scoring pass.
Thierry Henry: “If you tell me you love football, and you don’t love Barcelona, you have a problem.”
