Iniesta game winner versus Chelsea won’t be forgotten by Barcelona fans. In the dying minutes of injury time, Andres Iniesta saves Barcelona and becomes an instant legend with his bending shot into the upper corner. With just ten men, after Abidal was red carded, Barcelona are able to advance to the Champions League final in Rome on the away goal rule.
See how Andrés Iniesta’s 93rd-minute goal earned Barcelona victory against Chelsea and place in the Rome final.
Barcelona never gave up, they continued to player their game. Which, at times was frustrating to watch, when you like them to take more shots and chances, but the key was for Barcelona to stick with their passing game and not rush or force things. The ball fell to Messi and he laid a perfectly weighted pass for Iniesta to lace home. On the other side, Chelsea looked more frantic and worried, when they too should have continued to try to go to goal and score. I don’t think they should have taken Drogba off – he causes too much trouble upfront and may have scored. Instead, Barcelona went more defensive. Ballack and Drogba and a host of Chelsea players went nuts after the game, protesting a hand ball and other moments where they thought a penalty should have been awarded – Chelsea had their chances to put the game beyond reach, Drogba for one, but Barca keeper Valdes made a wonderful save. |
