Mount scores two goals versus Athletic Bilbao to qualify for the Europa League Final.
For his first goal, Mount cuts the ball back behind him and whips the soccer ball into the far corner without even looking. Mount knows where he is on the field and bends the ball past the goalkeeper.
Two goals in the Europa League semi-finals. He won’t forget this night. Of course he was named player of the match – even though he came on as a substitute. Additionally, the BBC gave him the highest player rating of the game, with a 8.66.

Moreover, Mount missed 50 games for Manchester United due to injury. He deserves a game like this.
On the second goal, Mount shows his incredible first touch to set himself up to drive the ball from the “parking lot”. He doesn’t chip the ball into the open net, but lasers it. Again though, he makes it look easy, but the first touch to set himself up to strike the ball is perfect. The ball is rifled at him by the Athletic Bilbao keeper, yet he controls the ball with his left foot and strikes the ball with his right without hesitation.
It is a David Beckham like goal. And to see him play like this and in the number seven jersey, makes you think of Beckham. Let’s just hope he stays healthy. And is able to play at the top of his game like this for years to come.

Mason Mount is the first substitute to score a brace in a European knockout match for Manchester United since David Beckham versus Real Madrid in 2003.
Two brilliant goals from Mason Mount. It’s hard to pick which one is better. The first touch and the way he drives a ball for the second goal, almost from half field, is just so rare and genius that you might have to say that one’s a bit better. Mount scores two goals and probably won’t stop smiling for days.
Finally, Manchester United now move on to the finals. They will face fellow English Premier league team Tottenham Hotspurs for an all England final in Bilbao.
