Rasmus Hojlund with a cool finish to put Manchester United in front at Old Trafford versus Brentford. Brilliant team goal, really. Almost a set play or pattern play that teams walk through in practice. See Hojlund’s finish in the video below.

It is training grounds stuff from Manchester United. Christian Eriksen plays the ball into Bruno Fernandes, who flicks it on to Hojlund brilliantly with the outside of his foot like he’s done it 1000 times.
This is a big goal for Hojlund. He’s calm in the box and gets his head up right away to see where the goalkeeper is located. Moreover, he deftly flicks the ball up and over the keeper. Hojlund doesn’t try to smash the ball and over hit it. Hojlund’s finish is of the highest quality.
Furthermore, it’s a good sign for Hojlund, who is under pressure at Manchester United to score goals. Is Hojlund the one to take the Manchester United to the next level? They do have Ruud van Nistelrooy on their coaching staff and maybe he’s making inroads in helping Hojlund.
Time will tell, but Manchester United and their manager don’t have much time as they are in 10th place right now.
As far as the play goes, as soon as Christian Eriksen gets the ball, he looks up and sees Fernandes is open. It happens all too fast for Brentford’s defense to react.
One key aspect of this play is the way Erickson hits the ball at pace into Fernandes, so all he has to do is flick it. The pass is telling him what to do next almost. Eriksen sees the play, how it’s going to unfold and that’s why he plays the soccer ball at pace.
Additionally, it is amazing to see Eriksen on the field. Do people almost forget he nearly died on the pitch playing for Denmark? It says a lot about his manager Erik ten Hag. To give him a shot and to sign him at Manchester United.
Finally, in the end, for Manchester United to be successful, they’re gonna need a lot more goals from Hojlund. They have the talent no doubt. They have a strong goalkeeper and midfielders who string passes well together and keep possession, but need more goals. But that is what ever team needs and why forwards make so much money.
