Lukaku just can’t score for the life of him. Lukaku again missed a chance for Belgium early in the game versus Ukraine. Yes, once again Lukaku missed a good chance for Belgium. It must be frustrating for Kevin de Bruyne, who puts Lukaku through in on goal with another beautiful pass.
Additionally, De Bruyne is such an artist of a passer of the ball. Lukaku must feel terrible he can’t score after receiving a pass like that. Dejectedly, Lukaku even gives Kevin de Bruyne a thumbs up after the miss.
Furthermore, Lukaku could have taken a touch and gone past the Ukrainian keeper Anatoliy Trubin. Or bend the soccer ball into the near post. Yet Lukaku tries to fire the ball into the back of the net. He overdoes it and doesn’t strike the ball cleanly.
Overall, I feel bad for Lukaku. It is as though he’s trying too hard to score. Look how he seems to try to hammer the soccer ball instead of passing it past the out running goalkeeper. However, Lukaku does seem cursed in a way.

In the end, Lukaku missing chances is something that happens to all forwards. Sure, this Lukaku streak of missing clear goal chances is a bit odd. Hopefully he will get one goal and then go on a goal scoring tear. All Lukaku needs is one goal to get going. One goal to boost his confidence.
