Alyssa Thompson Crosses to Gisele Thompson

Alyssa Thompson Crosses to Gisele Thompson

Alyssa crosses to Gisele: Angel City’s Gisele Thompson scores off a cross from her older sister Alyssa Thompson versus the Washington Spirit. This is the first time two sisters have combined for a goal in the National Women’s Soccer League. Furthermore, with players like Alex Morgan having retired, the Thompson sisters will more than likely become faces of the league. Look out for the next Nike soccer ad with the two Thompson sisters! Surely it’s in the works after this sister combo goal.

Alyssa gets a diagonal ball out wide and sprints down the line taking one touch before she crosses to her sister. Gisele really hustles to sprint into the box and get in front of the defender to score with the outside of her foot.

Gisele does really well to latch onto the cross and get into the box to score. Both of them are shocked that they have connected for a goal. Moreover, I don’t think this will be the last one they combine on together to score for either Angel City or the United States women’s national team.

It is incredible how young the two sisters are and how much success they’ve already had. They are both clearly comfortable playing professional soccer. Gisele it’s just 19 years old. And Alyssa is 20.

Watch Alyssa Thompson cross the soccer ball to her sister Gisele Thompson for the goal in the video below. A connection 19 years in the making. Alyssa Thompson assists her sister Gisele Thompson on her first pro goal, AND they become the first sisters in NWSL history to combine for a goal!

Finally, the Angel City coaching staff and scouting team deserve a ton of credit for signing the two sisters.

Additionally, Angel City have enabled the sisters to succeed. Even though they are so young and there’s a ton of pressure on them when things don’t go right. It’s not easy getting two young soccer players to make an impact so quickly. Don’t forget the two sisters skipped college soccer and just came from playing club soccer. Both sisters developed their soccer skills at the Total Futbol Academy.

But I’m sure it helps to have your sister on the same professional soccer team that you play on. This goes for the younger one and the older one. They can lean on each other when things aren’t going well. Again, this won’t be the last time you hear the phrase Alyssa crosses to Gisele for a goal.
