Alexander Isak opens the scoring for Newcastle with a rocket shot! Isak with just a stunning long range strike against Liverpool. The Newcastle forward could’ve taken the ball with his left foot, but cuts back to his right, and smashes the ball into the net.
Liverpool’s goalkeeper has no chance in getting a hand on that strike. I guess you’d have to use the comparison of like, ‘coming out of a cannon’, to describe this goal.
In a blink of an eye, Virgil van Dijk, the Liverpool defender, gets turned around on the play. It looks like van Dijk thought Isak was going to drive forward with the ball on his left foot. However, before the Liverpool captain can turn back around, Isak has ripped the soccer ball into the upper corner.
It is an old school goal in a way. The shot for distance is not as common in the Premier league as it used to be. Additionally, it is funny in a way to see such a powerful strike from a 6 feet 4 inch forward who is so skinny.
Overall, the Swedish striker is really making a claim as the best forward in the English Premier league right now. And someone who can do it all, in terms of being a striker. Whether it is scoring from his head, on the dribble, or like this long range strike from distance.
Furthermore, Isak is only 25 years old. He has a bright future ahead of him for Newcastle United. Although, if he keeps scoring goals like this rocket shot, don’t be surprised if bigger clubs in the Premier league try to steal him away. In total, he has now scored 36 goals for Newcastle since joining the club.

Finally, with this rocket shot goal from outside the box, it opens up other ways for Isak to score. Defenders now have to be wary of him hitting the ball from long range.
