Avoid Land Mines Soccer Drill for Kids

Avoid Land Mines Soccer Drill for Kids

Field size: 30 yards by 20 yards

Number of players: full team

Age range: 6-8

Description: Place five or six cones within a square to represent land mines.  Players have to avoid these land mines as they dribble around in the playing area.  If they hit one of the land mines you have to change direction and sprint away from the cone with the ball.  Or, if a player hits one of the land mines they have to dribble around the square with their ball before they can come back into the grid.

Show players how to cut away from the cones or turn just before they reach the cone with the inside and outside of the feet, and the bottom of the foot – pull the ball back.

This drill is a way for players to try out some of their turns and moves, to avoid the cones that are setup in the playing area. The players also have to avoid other players, and keep the ball close to them. Make sure players are using both feet, call out only dribble with your right foot, and then only dribble with your left.

Equipment needed: Cones and practice vests.

Higher level avoid land mines soccer drills. I still think one of the best drills for kids or players at a higher level even is to just dribble through a set of cones with different parts of the foot.
