Davide Frattesi Goal for Inter Milan

Davide Frattesi’s goal in extra time puts Inter Milan in the Champions League final. It is that moment of hesitation by Frattesi that sets himself up to score. He doesn’t shoot right away but lines up the shot and almost fakes like he’s going to shoot for one second. This freezes the Barcelona defenders and he’s able to slot the ball into the far corner. Barcelona defender Pau Cubarsí even puts his hands behind his back, concerned about a hand ball. Which might’ve hindered him from blocking the shot. Frattesi is now going to be a legend in the history of Inter Milan.

Overall, it is almost a team goal by Inter Milan. Mehdi Taremi wins the head ball and flicks the soccer ball on to Marcus Thuram. And here Thuram uses his strength to control the ball and get down the line to play the soccer ball into Taremi, who lays the ball off perfectly for Frattesi to score.

Additionally, some may have questioned Filippo Inzaghi and whether it was the right decision to take off Lautaro Martínez and put on Taremi. But Taremi came on and was crucial in not just this goal, but in holding the ball and maintaining position upfront for Inter Milan.

Davide Frattesi said this after the game, which comes from UEFA: “What happened? I don’t know! I celebrated so loudly that my head was spinning. Thought I would never experience anything like this again in terms of emotions. But that’s the beauty of football. It’s part of my career; I’ve always been the first to believe and the last to give up.”

The Frattesi goal seals the win for Inter Milan and the end of an incredible game between two incredible teams. Inter Milan will now face either Arsenal or Paris St. Germain in the final.
