George Best – San Jose Earthquakes

George Best Earthquakes Goal

I’m glad they brought the Earthquakes back to San Jose. I’m all for building a soccer history and honoring history. But will any player duplicate this goal by George Best? Is there an MLS player who can do this? There was Messi’s imitation of Maradona’s dribbling run with his maze run for Barcelona and the Hand of God.

I’d like to see an MLS player duplicate all the cuts and feints by George Best in the video below. Best was a special player and it’s kind of amazing that he even played in the United States. Who is going to be the next George Best? Watch one of the best goals ever scored in American soccer. The art of dribbling and cutting with the soccer ball by Best is beautiful to see.

As Best is starting his dribbling run one defender tries to chop him down near the top of the box but Best just keeps doing – no diving or trying to draw a penalty kick from Best.

George Best’s dribbling in the box goal in the NASL when he played for the San Jose Earthquakes in 1981..truly amazing. Best of the San Jose Earthquakes scored this fantastic goal against the Ft. Lauderdale Strikers on July 22, 1981 at Spartan Stadium in San Jose. It’s often called the greatest goal in NASL history. It’s a Maradona like goal from George Best while playing for the Earthquakes.
