Guler Halfway Line Shot

Arda Güler Halfway Line Shot

Arda Guler with a long range strike from the halfway line versus Austria. Why not try it if you’re feeling it. Guler will surely be the young player of the 2024 Euro tournament. He keeps getting better with each game. Furthermore, as someone said on social media: “One day, Arda Guler will put this in from the halfway line”.

Here are the highlights of Guler versus Austria. The Guler halfway line shot comes at about the 50 second mark in the video below. In image at the top of this article you can see Austria’s goalkeeper Patrick Pentz in the all yellow rushing back just in case the Guler halfway shot is on target.

Turkey’s 2-1 win over Austria puts them through to the next round and a quarter-final match versus the Netherlands. Apparently, in the locker room after the game, Arda Güler was even celebrating the win with the traditional Turkish dance. Guler will have a sensational match versus Holland if he’s feeling it like it seems he is.

Guler’s long range shot wasn’t the first of the Euros. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia tried to catch Spain’s keeper off guard with a laser of a shot from behind the halfway line.

From the BBC: Arda Guler is the third teenager to both score and assist in the same edition of the Euros after Wayne Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo, who both did so at Euro 2004.

It is a good sign when a young player wants to take chances. Shoot from near midfield, why not. Besides, it shows his confidence. Plus, this is not the first time Guler has tried to score from long range either. For Real Madrid, Guler nearly scored a long distance goal versus Osasuna.

Moreover, Guler is being fouled as he dribbles the ball in the above video. The referee though gives him the advantage and allows play to continue. Perhaps the referee sees that Guler is going to escape from the pressure.

Real Madrid manager Ancelotti said this about the young Adra Guler:

“Arda Guler? Patience is needed. It’s true, he needs minutes but sometimes the game, the team and the moments require different choices. I trust Arda, I’d like the fans to see and enjoy his talent…but his time will come. Patience”.

Also, here’s the Guler goal versus Georgia. Watch him bend the ball into the upper corner. What a talented footballer.

I’m guessing that an idol for Adra Guler is Mesut Özil, whose parents are Turkish immigrants, and he of course is a former Real Madrid star. Both soccer players are creative and smooth with the ball at their feet.

Worried about a Guler halfway line shot, most goalkeepers might stay closer to goal when they face the Turkish star.
