Frankie Hejduk Gets Slapped

Yeah, slapping a player is not something a coach is supposed to do. Frankie Hejduck gets slapped after the game. Smartly, it appears that Hejduck didn’t react or slap back. Usually that’s the person who gets caught or in trouble. But there’s video of the Hejduk getting slapped incident below.

From the Washington Post:

At the conclusion of the USA’s 2-0 victory over Mexico on Wednesday night in the Columbus wind tunnel, Frankie Hejduk was heading toward the locker room when a Mexican team staff member slapped him in the face. Univision identified the assailant as assistant coach Paco Ramirez.

“I was just trying to pump the crowd up [as he was leaving the field]. I was actually saying, ‘F*&% yeah!’ I think they thought I was saying, ‘F*&% you.’

Hedjuk missed out on the U.S. match in Azteca due to injury, so he wasn’t able to use the incident as motivation. This wasn’t like the Mourinho love slap to Pujol, which was more out of respect and fun – although maybe a bit harder and about how Mourinho has control. Perhaps he was trying to get a rise out of Pujol.

Frankie Hejduk smacked in the video below by one of Mexico’s assistant coaches. Yeah, Hejduk is such a tireless worker and runs the entire game I’m sure he frustrates opposing teams and their coaches.
