Brilliant flick, almost Johan Cruyff like chop pass by Kylian Mbappé to Jude Bellingham. The chop heel pass almost freezes the defense of Alavés.
Overall though, just terrible defending by Alavés. You can’t give Mbappé that much time in space to turn. He receives the soccer ball and can think about what he wants to do next. You can’t do that with one of the best soccer players in the world, if not the best.
After Mbappé spins away and moves into space he chops the ball with his heel area to Bellingham. And who’s following the runner. The runner being, again, one of the best players in the world. Nobody follows him after his chop pass. And a beautiful give and go ensues.
Moreover, it’s just a perfectly waited and precise passed from Bellingham. Toni Kroos like. Not easy. But Bellingham makes it look so. Mbappé’s work is isn’t done though. As he cuts the ball back to his right foot in the box and slots the ball home past the keeper.
It is all happening incredibly fast, so you can’t call out Alavés for their poor defending too much. Yet not only don’t they close enough to Mbappé, but they give Bellingham way too much time too. They don’t force either player to put their head down for a second. Therefore, in the blink of an eye, Mbappé, goes left, and then right in the box and scores.
It’s still early, Mbappé has only just joined Madrid, but Bellingham and him are starting to get an understanding. Which could be scary for other teams in La Liga. And for Europe in general, with the Champions League games starting. Furthermore, with forwards, especially players like Mbappé, one thing you don’t want is for them to have confidence and feeling comfortable, which Alavés did for Mbappé.
After the chop pass by Mbappe, he extends Real Madrid’s lead to 2-0 against Alaves in the 40th minute on a goal assisted by Jude Bellingham. Mbappé goal for Real Madrid makes it 7 goals in all competitions so far for Madrid so far. In La Liga, he has scored 4 goals, but 3 are from penalties.
Real Madrid have picked up their pace as they recorded their fifth consecutive victory in the match against Alavés. Real Madrid set the game up in the first half, during which they scored two goals. The first came from Lucas Vázquez and the second saw Mbappé finish off a beautiful move. Rodrygo got the third in the second half following a great individual move.
Alavés were clinical in the closing minutes and reduced the deficit with goals from Protesoni and Kike García, but the three points stayed at the Santiago Bernabéu. Full highlights right here, including the Mbappé chop pass move.
