Lamine Yamal assist versus Germany: All the amazing things that Lamine Yamal does on the soccer pitch is almost becoming normal. Accepted. As it is now known by everyone just how good he is. But he’s only 16! Have we already forgotten that?
His skills, speed and decision making are that of a veteran footballer. Moreover, he has shown no signs of slowing down. Lamine Yamal is the first teenager with three assists in the Euro Championships tournament.
And to cause so many problems for other teams in the Euro tournament is incredible. He’s so calm and confident on the soccer ball. That coolness is evident in Yamal’s overall style of play, especially in this assist to Dani Olmo.
But it is the respect and concern that the German defense has to have for Yamal that results in the assist in many ways. German defender David Raum has to back off and give ground and that enables Olmo to slip into the open space and score. Raum doesn’t know if Yamal is going to race down the line or cut in and shoot.
Yamal’s speed through the tournament thus far has made teams worry and give him more respect when he’s on the ball. That is all well and good and understandable. Yet, again, Yamal is just 16 years old! He is a soccer prodigy no doubt.
Perhaps Germany would have been wiser to always have two players keeping an eye on Yamal. Is that Toni Kroos who loses track of Olmo behind him? I think so. It was Olmo who came on as a substitute to replace an injured Pedri. He suffered a hard tackle by Kroos and looks to have hurt his knee. Hopefully Pedri is able to play again in the Euros.
The pace of the pass to Olmo by Yahmal is perfect. Olmo is able to strike the ball first time and pass the ball into the goal. That Barcelona La Masia sure know what they are doing when developing soccer players! Lamine Yamal set this up perfectly for Dani Olmo!

I hope Spain and Barcelona protect Yamal. So much exposure for a young player like this can just be too much. Furthermore, the better Yamal plays the more attention he’s going to get. He’ll have to be shielded from the media a bit since he is just 16 years old.
Smartly, Spanish coach Luis de la Fuente put Ferran Torres on to replace Lamine Yamal in the 63 minute. He is going to be needed in the games to come.
I think Lamine Yamal assist will be something that you hear again in many more tournaments.
Mikel Merino’s header from an Olmo cross would turn out to be the game winner for Spain.
