Messi scores two on his return. And the first goal with his weaker right foot. Seems pretty rare to see Messi chop the ball to his weaker right foot and score. Also, he hasn’t played in months. Plus, he is surely not match fit yet.
Moreover, I really don’t know why the Philadelphia Union defender Kai Wagner is complaining after Messi scores. He gets beat and he dives in. while it’s surprising that Messi cuts back to his weaker foot. He should realize that dealing with Messi you have to be cautious. And pick your spots to win the ball. Perhaps the defender is complaining about an earlier missed call by the referees or something but he is animated.
LIKE HE NEVER LEFT.

Furthermore, after so much time away due to a serious ankle injury it is amazing everything just syncs up for him so easily. Like riding a bike! You don’t forget how to play or ride.
It is, of course, Jordi Alba passes the ball to Messi for the second goal. And Suarez with the dummy it really is almost like a sept play: this square pass along the top of the box. Alba doesn’t try to go down the line and cut the ball back or cross the ball in the air. It’s a perfect square ball that Messi can strike first time.
37-year-old Leo Messi took a picture with 14-year-old Philadelphia Union player Cavan Sullivan after the match. I hope Cavan got Messi’s jersey too. He has been a long time Messi fan. There are pictures of him in a Barcelona jersey.
Messi is clearly the best to ever play. Miami fans are witnessing history. He is the greatest of all time. The increase in ticket prices is warranted. Ticket prices tend to double to see Inter Miami with Messi in the lineup. But they’re worth it. Messi never disappoints.
And while there is talk that Messi could play in the World Cup in the United States in 2026. You never know what could happen at Messi‘s age. Any injury he suffers is harder to recover from. Thankfully, he didn’t need surgery after injuring his ankle during Copa America.
However, in the years to come, it will be harder for Messi to recover from certain injuries, so it makes sense to see Messi play when you have the chance. Messi takes care of himself off the field though. Hopefully he will be healthy in the coming years and play in the World Cup.
MLS Moves on Twitter: “I’m fully convinced if Messi were healthy and played all 34 matches this MLS season, he would have 40+ goals and 25+ assists.”
Leo Messi post game: “The truth is, I’m a bit tired because of the humidity and the heat in Miami. I was really looking forward to playing again after so much time. We know the team we have, we’re deservedly in the first place.”
Lastly, Messi is on the verge of breaking a lot of MSL and Inter Miami records.
Inter Miami all time goal scoring record count:
Gonzalo Higuaín: 29 goals (record)
Lionel Messi: 27 goals
MLS PR stated this on Twitter about Messi’s record breaking stats: With a brace tonight, InterMiami’s Lionel Messi has produced 15 goals and 15 assists in his first 19 MLS games, becoming the fastest player in league history to do so. Messi accomplished this 10 games quicker than the previous record holder (Sebastian Giovinco, 29 games).
It is interesting that it is his former Argentinian teammate Gonzalo Higuaín that Messi will pass in the goal scoring record for Inter Miami. After all, unfortunately, he was unable to score some goals for Argentina in the 2014 World Cup. Messi repeatedly set him up for chances, but he missed or at one time hit the crossbar. Messi though is wise and forgiving.
Finally, Gonzalo Higuain reportedly said this about Messi: “ When we lost the World Cup final in 2014, in the dressing room, no one spoke to me because of the missed opportunity. Some were looking at me angrily. I felt guilty, but Messi surprised me with a hug and said to me, “It’s okay, this is football. We have reached the final. We are champions.”
Then it was reported that the coach did not want me back in the national team, but Messi intervened and spoke to the coach and told him that I had no fault in all of this. We all lose in football, we are not perfect. Then the coach called on me to play in the matches. If it were not Messi, I would have been feeling guilty until today. I am happy for him that he won the World Cup. He deserves it. He has a big heart.“
