Shooting Drill Dash

Field size: 40 yards by 30 yards

Number of players:
full team of players with two keepers

Age range: 10-12

Description: Use the penalty box area with the two goals moved up so they’re about forty yards from one another. Players will dash around a cone and then take a shot with the right foot from one side and then the left foot from the other.

Two lines of players at the sides about the midway point of the field. These players are going to pass the ball into the middle to the working player – the player who will shoot.

The shooting player must run around a cone before taking a shot.  Setup two cones on either side, about five yards away from the midway line from the goals, towards the middle of the field and the goal. Player who is going to shoot must run around the cone on the right before taking a shot on the left.

Two players, the first players in line, on the right and left, have a ball and they pass the ball to the player in the middle who will run around the cone and then take a shot.

Only one player is working at a time.  Players take one or two touches before they shoot.  The drill should move fast and players rotate quickly into next lines.  Stop play after a period of time to retrieve all the balls or have one or two players act as ball retrievers – players rotate into this role.  Players individually keep track of shots on goals and goals scored.

Equipment needed: Cones and practice vests.
