Real Madrid Interested in Altidore

How’s Jozy Altidore going to be able to keep up his blog posts at the NY Times if he’s in Madrid, maybe he’ll start doing them in Spanish or for Marca?  The kids just eighteen years old, all the more impressive, not just the talent on the soccer pitch but this blogging gig–think it shows a lot of character and class.

I’m sure his salary is about to take a big jump, probably ten fold:  Josmer Altidore – $108,333

This would be amazing to see Altidore at Real Madrid, in La Liga, playing at Camp Nou in one of the biggest derbies in the world, but I think I’d rather seem him at a club where he’d get more time.  Either way though, great news below.

Madrid, Spain (Sports Network) – Real Madrid is interested in U.S. national and New York forward Jozy Altidore, AS newspaper in Spain reported Friday.

Real Madrid scout Carlos Bucero watched Altidore in the Major League Soccer playoffs and the La Liga champions have reportedly approached New York about acquiring Altidore, according to the report.

Real Madrid is preparing to make an offer for the 18-year-old Altidore, AS reported. Atletico Madrid is also reportedly interested in Altidore, according to the newspaper.

The report also said Real Madrid plans to change its transfer policy to pursue younger, inexpensive players and develop them instead of signing higher-priced veterans.

Altidore scored nine goals in 22 games for New York in his second season in the MLS, and led the U.S. Under-20 team in the recent youth World Cup with four goals.

He was recently called up to the U.S. senior national team for the first time and could make his debut for the senior team Saturday against South Africa.
