The Lionel Messi Story

The story of Lionel Messi and how he ended up at Barcelona are posted below. They are all in Spanish though, so call over a friend who speaks Spanish or purchase one of those infomercial like special offers, say Rosetta Stone or the like. No really, this is a great way to learn Spanish if you can start to pick up a few sentences. The Messi story is incredible. More like a comic book story or movie than reality in many ways. The great soccer player in the world might not be the greatest soccer player in the world if he didn’t get the shots he needed when he was young.

When I was living in Spain, it was always Canal Plus who had good features stories on soccer players and showed the best football games during the week. When will the United States have a channel that’s similar? A channel that does some in-depth stories about the top soccer players playing in Europe. Why hasn’t anybody followed around Altidore, Dempsey, Guzan, or Davies yet as they make their way in Europe? Now, with Christian Pulisic playing for Chelsea that’s starting to change.

Fox Soccer Channel is slowly improving, and it looks like ESPN is coming on board just in time for the World Cup, but I haven’t seen a story like the Messi one posted below on any American soccer channels.
