I mean, the value of a Lionel Messi jersey obtained in a post match exchange might be worth more than some of the salaries of the MLS players Messi will face. Imagine, Messi scores a hat trick, how much is that played in Messi jersey worth. I’m half kidding, but you know, it will be a scramble post match for a Messi jersey. Or maybe even at halftime.
He’s worth whatever he’s getting though.
I do think Inter Miami is going to need a bigger stadium.
For American soccer, what a signing. It is a bigger signing than David Beckham. Messi Inter Miami jerseys will exceed those Beckham jerseys. Inter Miami’s Instagram went from 900,000 to over 5 million and growing.
While he’s 35, his brain and vision and skills are all still at their finest. To see Messi make one killer pass or slip through two or three defenders, that’s enough.
Last time he was in Miami he did this in a friendly match for Argentina. A first time chipping of the keeper.
Messi once trained with some Houston Dynamo youth team players. The awe on the players’ faces says it all. Now, every day Messi is going to appear at training sessions for Inter Miami.
I wonder how many fans will show up for those Inter Miami training sessions. Surely Messi will do his long distance juggling warm up routine with an Inter Milan teammate. That might be the most inexpensive way to see Messi play. And you should go see just how close the ball sticks to Messi’s foot in person. I think you’ll be surprised at how amazing he is with the soccer ball. And he doesn’t even use his right foot!
It’s one thing to see what he does on television or Youtube. It’s a vastly different thing to see how he manipulates the soccer ball live.
If you can add just a little bit of Messi’s style of play to your game your skills will increase exponentially. How many more young players is Messi going to inspire during his time in the United States? I’d say quite a lot of players.
Surely former Inter Miami forward and Argentina teammate of Messi, Gonzalo Higuain, is kicking himself at the fact that he has missed the Messi playing in Miami time period by a few months. Perhaps Higuain will come out of retirement. Actually, one of the problems Inter Miami is going to have is just turning away all the players who want to come and play with Messi in Miami.
Some have talked about Messi going on loan to Barcelona during the MLS off-season. Much like Henry and Beckham did when they played in the MLS. Let’s hope Messi gets that chance. He deserves a send off at the Camp Nou for all he’s done at Barcelona.
I do hope there is enough of a mate tea supply in Miami.
