Ederson to Haaland Goal

Ederson to Haaland Goal

Ederson to Haaland goal. What a pass by Ederson! Despite being a goalkeeper he can drive the ball a long ways just perfectly. This is not the first time Ederson has made a pass like this and Haaland has used his strength to hold off a defender. The two teamed up to do almost the same thing versus Brighton. See the Ederson long ball to Haaland versus Brighton here.

However, Ederson has an incredible amount of time on the soccer ball. It’s almost funny to say, since he’s a keeper. But just look at how calmly he looks up, scans the field, and spots Haaland in space. The pass is nothing short of spectacular—a laser of a long ball, right on target. Again though, look at how much time he has. An attacker from Brentford needs to rush at him to at least make Ederson put his head down.

There was no delay or review for a foul. Did Haaland block the defender unfairly? The Norwegian goal scoring wonder is just better positioned for the pass. Like it is a set play or planned. And he used his strength against defender Ethan Pinnock to his advantage.

The joke here is about the defender needing to spend more time in the weight room to shield the ball or push off attackers like Haaland.

But in soccer, it’s more important to master the ball at your feet, right. Although it helps to be strong and know how to use your body, of course.

Haaland shows his intelligence here, using his body to shield the defender as he then races towards the goal and is one-on-one with the goalkeeper. Smartly, Haaland takes his time, slicing the ball almost, up and past the keeper.

Haaland’s composure in front of goal is impressive, especially for someone still pretty young. His goal-scoring exploits in the English Premier League are already historic, breaking records left and right. He now holds the record for the most goals (9) through the first four games of a season, surpassing Wayne Rooney. Furthermore, Haaland’s nine goals are more than any goal an entire team has scored in the Premier League at this point!

Overall, having already won the league and Golden Boot in both of his full seasons at Manchester City, Haaland is making the Premier League his own. The real question is whether he stays at City or tests himself in another league down the line. Surely he wants to. And he may need another challenge!

It’s also fascinating to see how much the role of goalkeepers has evolved in modern soccer. Keepers like Ederson aren’t just shot-stoppers anymore—they’re maybe even playmakers at times. Able to ping 50-yard passes with the accuracy of a midfielder. Having someone like Haaland on the receiving end certainly helps, but Ederson’s ability to turn defense into attack with a single pass is one of the keys to Manchester City’s success.

Erling Haaland is rewriting the English Premier League record books, and he’s really only getting started. Ederson, too! With passes like this one I’m sure it is not the last time we’ll hear Ederson to Haaland goal called out by an announcer. Now, I would love to see Ederson score a goal himself.
