Pulisic Olimpico

Pulisic Olimpico

Pulisic with the olimpico goal for AC Milan. It’s easy, just whip in the corner kick at pace and it goes into the back of the net. Seriously though, it is just dangerous if you strike the ball at pace to the near post.

There are often so many bodies in the box that the goalkeeper can’t see the soccer ball. So it doesn’t take much for the ball to go into the back of the net.

Watch the Pulisic olimpico in the video below from CBS Sports Golazo. A Champions League goal direct from a corner kick versus Club Brugge.

Pulisic hit the soccer ball with a fair amount of pace, but not a ton. He didn’t really whip it in like say on a free kick. Like Beckham would score from a corner kick let’s say.

However, the near post run by AC Milan’s Matteo Gabbia is maybe enough to throw the keeper off.

Pulisic is on a tear. Scoring nearly week in and week out. I wonder how far up the rankings in terms of best players in the world he can get? Maybe it’s too early to speculate about this, but he is playing extraordinary well in Italy.

Moreover, I think it’s fair to say he’s the best American soccer player ever. What’s left for him to do is lead the United States national team to the later stages of the World Cup.

On the Pulisic olimpico, defender Gabbia may have gotten a slight touch on the ball. Importantly, forward Álvaro Morata, standing at the near post, blocks the goalkeeper’s vision.

Simon Mignolet, the Belgian goalkeeper who plays for Club Brugge, ends up flailing at the soccer ball.

The goal comes against the run and play. A freakish goal, really. But Pulisic bent the soccer ball into the near post accurately enough to be dangerous and potentially lead to a goal. Which it did. Perhaps one of the most famous and recent Olimpico goals is when Toni Kroos did it for Germany.

Including this olimpico goal, Pulisic has scored 7 times in the Serie A and Champions League for AC Milan.
