NEW Top Soccer Shoes

Being a (recreational) soccer player, this news item naturally caught my eye: adidas recently announced a new concept in soccer boots, a modular boot. The new +F50 TUNIT, as the model is called, consists of 3 interchangeable components: the upper, the chassis and the studs. Of course, each part comes in different styles and functions to suit different weather and pitch conditions. Now you can decide how your boot will look and work. Already, adidas has lined up quite a number of star players to wear the new shoes at the 2006 World Cup in Germany this summer. I’d love to get my feet into a pair of these, but I can already imagine the price tag attached to these puppies.

Here’s what adidas has to say about the boot’s features:

The lightweight Chassis provides reduced weight through less material usage. This chassis also features the ClimaCool® upper. This chassis weighs 75grams.

The Comfort Chassis provides additional comfort, cushioning and shock absorption at high pressure points, such as the heel and the forefoot ball area. This chassis weighs 84gr.

The Orthopaedic Chassis features reductions in the sock liner to allow the usage of personal orthopaedic in-socks.

The specially developed adiHex micro fibre is thin, soft and strong. The use of this unique material allows adidas to produce a very lightweight, yet highly resistant performance boot.
The end result: a stunning looking, incredible durable, very comfortable and easy to maintain football boot.

ClimaCool® provides a 360° cooling effect for the entire foot through the adiHex/mesh upper construction and ventilation cut-outs in the outsole.

The lace cover provides a cleaner kicking surface to reduce missed shots and passes.

The glove-like fit of the TUNIT makes for a lighter shoe and allows a better feel for the ball.

“This is a unique boot; the coolest boot I’ve worn so far. It’s just different, that’s what I like so much about it. I can personalize it and change it for every single match, just like my look.”

“I am really proud to wear now the third generation of the F50 family, but this boot stands completely out. When I first heard about the concept, I was so excited that I tested the boots directly, all different kinds of versions, I can’t wait to use all different kinds of styles as well.”
