Christian Pusilic’s first-ever FIFA World Cup goal for the United States. Pulisic goes all in and scores even though he knew he was going to collide with the Iranian keeper. Really, by crashing the box Pulisic puts his body on the line for his team and country.
Looks like Pulisic takes a knee to the stomach area after scoring with the inside of his foot – Iranian goalkeeper Alireza Beiranvand knee ends going right into Pulisic’s stomach.
No wonder Manchester United want to sign Pulisic on loan.
Take a look at the Pulisic goal versus Iran in the video below. Pulisic wouldn’t return to the game at the half due to the injury he suffered while scoring.
Great ball in by Weston McKenie and Sergino Dest smartly heads the ball across to an on rushing Pulisic. Should also add that goalkeeper Matt Turner started the move that resulted in the Pulisic goal with a superb pass.

The Pulisic goal versus Iran would be the game winner. Despite perhaps going into too much of a defense shape, the United States held on for the win and play Holland in the next round of the World Cup in Qatar.
Here’s an update on Pulisic’s injury from Fox Soccer’s Jenny Taft: Christian Pulisic was already back at the team hotel when the group arrived back from the stadium following the win … he has been diagnosed with a pelvic contusion and his status is day to day.
