Christian Pulisic to Manchester United

Manchester United are open to a loan move for Christian Pulisic from Chelsea in January. Will it happen for Pulisic? Is it the right move for him?

It’s hard for me to see Christian Pulisic going to Manchester United since he’ll have to fight for his place there too. Both Chelsea and Manchester United are full of talented footballers.

Perhaps Manchester United has less wingers in their team and there’s a place for Pulisic more long term – some assurance that he’ll get more playing time.

But I don’t think that’s how it works in the English Premier League. It’s a constant battle in terms of getting playing time. Overcoming injuries and playing consistently week in and week out under tons of pressure from fans if you don’t play well.

Manchester United have players like Anthony Elanga and Marcus Rashford who can not only play up top as forwards but out wide. And then there’s the Brazilian winger, Antony, who Manchester United just signed.

Also, with Manchester United having new young talent like Alejandro Garnacho, there’s just not room for Pulisic.

However, if it is just a loan more for Pulisic, short term, maybe it does work out. Erik ten Hag has seen a place for Pulisic in the team. Someone who can create more goal scoring chances for United.

Pulisic’s run in the World Cup in Qatar will also have an impact of where he goes or if he stays at Chelsea. So far he’s playing extremely while, hitting the crossbar against England and assisting on the goal against Wales. If Pulisic can help the United States beat Iran and go further in the tournament his loan price will only increase.

Here ESPN FC’s Gab Marcotti and Julien Laurens discuss Christian Pulisic’s future after the Chelsea winger was linked with a loan move to Manchester United in the January transfer window.
