Federico Valverde Screamer

Federico Valverde Screamer

Federico Valverde with another long range, strike for Real Madrid. Valverde loves to shoot from distance and often scores when he does. It is a lost art in soccer in a way. The long range screamer.

It is very helpful when teams try to pack the box with the defenders. Teams are forced to come out of their low block when Valverde is near the top of the box. This opens up spaces in behind the defenders.

Take a look at the Valverde long range shot in the video below. The rocket of a shot by Valverde gives Sevilla’s Álvaro Fernández no chance. The soccer ball is ripped into the upper corner. Fernández can’t even get a finger tip on the ball.

He hits the ball with such power. And his technique is perfect. See how he lands on his shooting foot. It is good that the severe defender didn’t get his head on the ball. The defender has his arms behind his back and then goes and tries to flick the ball with his head. He surely would’ve suffered a concussion if he did head the ball.

The long range strike is the preferred method for Valverde to score goals. Actually, I don’t knows if he scores any other type of goal!

Valverde has played 192 games for Real Madrid and scored 18 goals. I’m going to guess and say at least 10 of those goals are from long distance.

While the Uruguayan midfielder is known for scoring from distance he is also known for his speed. He is the second fastest player on the team. Only Kylian Mbappé is faster.

Interestingly, Manchester City could use a player like Valverde who scores from long range strikes outside the box. From time to time, you’ll see Kevin de Bruyne score a goal from outside of the box, but not too many other players on the City team do. So teams can pack the box and frustrate Manchester City.

Additionally, one thing that Valverde’s teammates always do is follow his shots. Since he hits the soccer ball was so much power the keeper is likely to bobble it. Of course, that’s only if the goalkeeper can even get a hand on it! As with this Valverde screamer, the Sevilla keeper can only stretch so far.

Valverde is a long range shooting master. Just look at this graphic from ESPN. Should soccer players get an extra point if they score from that far away? That would certainly change the game!

Finally, Valverde is really in the prime of his professional soccer career. He’s only 27 years old. I’m sure we’ll see more of these long range strikes from him for Real Madrid.
