Morgan Rogers with an amazing goal for Aston Villa versus Manchester City. The goal put Aston Villa up 2-0 and sealed the win. The goal comes from a stretched out give and go between Rogers and teammate John McGinn.
Watch the goal and dribbling run by Rogers in the video below.

Furthermore, it is a perfect layoff by McGinn. The gentle pass by McGinn allows Rogers to strike the ball first time – enabling him to measure up the shot with his left foot.
In the dribbling run process, Rodgers fights off three Manchester City players. It is a goal of the English Premier league season type goal, really.
Rodgers starts this goal scoring play in his own half. For a second it almost looked like he was going on a Messi or Maradona like full field dribbling run. Sometimes, when a player gets a burst of speed and momentum, they just continue on and try to score themselves.
Again, as I’ve noted before, it’s too bad there aren’t these types of dribbling runs more often in professional soccer.
And the cold celebration Rogers does after he scores you might think he’s copying Cole Palmer. However, Palmer has said his inspiration for the cold celebration goes to his former Manchester City academy teammate Rogers, who first did it.
Incredibly, some soccer analysts are wondering if Pep Guardiola’s job is now in question. But if there’s any soccer coach who can turn a team around it is Guardiola.
Finally, it must eat at Guardiola a bit to see so many former Manchester City players doing so well. Players he could certainly use right now, like Palmer and Rogers. At the same time though, he must feel good that he helped these players grow as players and develop into top level pros. If only they would just not score against his Manchester City team!
