Lamine Yamal soccer skills. Yamal is just an incredible soccer player all around. Fearless. A joy to watch play soccer. I think it’s Xavi who deserves credit for giving him a chance at such a young age to play for Barcelona’s first team. But that is one thing all teams should do: give young players a chance. You’ll see a wide range of moves in this video below, cutbacks and Coerver like manipulation of the soccer ball.
Overall, perhaps my two favorite skills that Yamal possesses is his vision and passing ability. The chip into the box off the dribble to the great German forward Robert Lewandowski is genius.
Hopefully Barcelona protects him, although he has now become so famous after is good run for Spain in the Euro 2024 that will be hard.
Another thing that stands out about Yamal is his ability to shoot from long distances. Bending the ball into the upper corner. An ability that enables him to go past players easier since they think he will shoot.
What jumps out at you when you watch this highlight reel is how he can just stop on a dime. Defenders have no chance. he can be going 100 mph and then stop and go the other direction.
I always thought Barcelona was wrong to send Ousmane Dembélé to Paris St. Germain. But it enabled Xavi and Barcelona to put Yamal on the field and take over.
Smartly, Yamal also doesn’t try to smash the ball into the net but instead often just places the ball or passes it into the goal.
For a young soccer player he has so much wisdom about the game. I guess La Masia is doing it right! I would like to see him imitate Lionel Messi and Maradona and dribble up the length of the field. He has it in him, of course.
