BARCELONA’S new home and away kits fuse together club tradition with a modern and creative expression to give the team an exciting new look for the 2012 – 13 season. Combining performance innovation with low environmental impact each kit (shirt and shorts) is made using up to thirteen recycled plastic water bottles.

Barcelona’s new home jersey:
Barcelona’s new home kit sees the famous blue and red stripes fused together to give the shirt a bold new look.
For years the club has taken the best of its homegrown talent (the cantera) and fused those young stars with the world’s finest players, giving the team a mixture of youthfulness, tradition and creativity – all qualities that inspire the new kit.
The red crew neck collar gives the shirt a classic but modern feel, whilst the graphic on the outer neck is the Catalan Senyera flag. The inner neck reads, ‘MÉs Que Un Club’ (More than a club). The blue on the shirt is a darker blue than seasons gone by. And the font used on the Kit is inspired by Catalan architecture.
The blue shorts have a red stripe on the side and ‘Barca’ on the back waistband. The blue socks have Barça in yellow in the same font as the shirt. The socks also offer a new and innovative design featuring an updated cotton footbed offering additional support and comfort.

The new away kit is an explosion of bright colour to celebrate the club’s effervescent style of play.
The new shirt fuses orange into yellow on the body paying homage to the city’s mixture of culture, art, style and architecture. The shirt has a classic orange crew neck ribbed collar with the famous Blaugrana detail on the back of the neck and orange sleeves.
The outer back detail on the shirt is Catalan’s Senyera flag, whilst the inner neck graphic reads, ‘Més que un club’ (More than a club). The font used on the kit is inspired by Catalan architecture.
The yellow shorts have the Blaugrana detail along the side seam and ‘Barca’ on the back of the waistband. The yellow socks also have the Blaugrana detail on the top and the ‘Barca’ detail on the back.
Whilst the kits combine modern sport and youth style to give the club an iconic new look, Nike’s innovation provides our most technologically advanced kits to aid athlete comfort and performance.
The kits are made from Nike’s ground-breaking recycled polyester, making them Nike’s most environmentally friendly kit ever produced. An innovative manufacturing process reduces energy consumption by up to 30% compared to manufacturing traditional polyester. Since 2010 Nike has used an estimated 115 million recycled plastic bottles to create its high performance kits.
The kits are made out of 23% lighter fabric with 20% stronger knit structure than Nike’s previous kits and feature Nike Dri-FIT technology to wick moisture away from athletes to help keep them cool and dry on-pitch.
Kits have bonded re-enforced t-bar junctions that support critical seams on the shirt and shorts and inner welded seams with a flat finish construction to improve comfort and performance. Temperature regulation is helped by ventilation zones, consisting of a series of tiny laser cut holes from the under arms to the waistband, allowing air to circulate to keep players comfortable.
Nike Pro Combat base-layers are used by athletes to compliment playing kits to further improve comfort and increased protection in contact situations. Fans and players can also enjoy Nike’s Barcelona Sportswear collection off the pitch, inspired by the club’s heritage.
