History: Thierry Daniel Henry (born August 17, 1977 in Les Ulis, Essonne, Paris) is a French football player. He currently plays as a striker for the French national team, and for English club Arsenal, where he is the club’s all-time leading scorer in both league matches and all competitions. He has been acclaimed for his tremendous pace, great mobility, an outstanding first touch and unerring finishing. He is widely considered to be one of the best players in the world, and a living legend. Henry has been twice nominated for the FIFA World Player of the Year, both times finishing runner-up in 2003 and 2004. Also, he was named by Pelé as one of the top 125 greatest living footballers in March 2004. He has surpassed Ian Wright to take over as Arsenal’s all-time leading scorer with over 200 goals for the club. Although he plays as a striker, his versatility at all aspects of the game makes him more influential than traditional strikers, and he often drops deep to receive the ball from midfield. Subsequently, Henry has consistently featured among the top FA Premier League’s scorers (in 2006 he became the first player to score more than 20 goals in five consecutive seasons) and he claimed the "Golden Boot" (most goals scored) in 2002, 2004, 2005 and 2006. On 19 May 2006, Henry ended the speculation of moving to Barcelona and pledged his future to Arsenal by signing a 4-year contract that will keep him at the club till 2010.

Henry Quotes

“Sometimes in football you have to score goals.”

“That’s the way it is, but with Arsenal it is more direct. I’m not attacking anyone, just we need to play quicker and alternate things a bit. The earlier the ball, the better.”

"I always think about what I missed, and I think that was my driving force – never be satisfied with what I’ve done."

“I take the ball, I go wide, I cross, I shoot, but when the moment beckons, I am ready to make the difference.”

“I eat football, I sleep football, I breathe football. I’m not mad, I’m just passionate.”

“It’s not about me, it’s about what I can help the team achieve. And I do that through scoring goals.”

“I’m still young and everyday I want to learn more. I feel I am beginning to find myself.”

“There are many things I want, and the only way I will get them is to keep my head down, listen to the right people and work hard.”
