You’d have to say that Paul Pogba is the new footballer of the future. Pogba is nearly perfectly designed, a tall and long almost NBA basketball like soccer player who grew up with a ball glued to his foot instead of a basketball to his hands. It’s like if Kobe chose soccer.
Pogba is the new future soccer player because he’s not in the mold of Messi or Iniesta, low to the ground and some what skinny, but long arms and legs that are like tentacles. He can run and jump and score goals with his head or his foot as if he’s in a video game. Here Pogba rips a volley while playing for Juventus: And even though he’s tall and lanky he’s got incredible touch on the ball and can laser passes across the field. The only question with Pogba is where he should play on the field, as a defensive midfielder who spread the ball around or in the attack… Yes, he plays with an ease like most greats do. He moves like he’s constantly warming up, loosening himself from a puppeteer, sort of dancing to music in his head. And like all soccer greats he looks like he’s playing in slow motion at times, but I’m guessing defenders disagree as his long strides are hard to keep up with. It’s one of those things where you think he’s moving slowly but in person it’s like standing near a freeway. Do some wish he was more aggressive and intense when he played? Just the other day, his teammate at Manchester United, Zlantan Ibrahimovic, seemed to want to score more goals, to get his hat trick, while Pogba was content dribbling in circles near the corner flag to kill time as the game wound down. However, if you’ve seen Pogba tackle you know he has a fierce side. And there’s no question he wants to win games and help Manchester United return to their glory days of old. Pogba is the most expensive player ever for Manchester. As United paid Juventus a transfer fee of $116.4 million for his services even though United let him go just a few years ago. He’s got hair like Dennis Rodman, except dyed and styled in a classic way from week to week. Pogba is all cool though. There are never any crazy antics from him. He’s probably now one of the most famous Muslim soccer players, too. In the new adidas ad featuring Pogba – at just 23 years old, the future is all Pogba’s: “Paul Pogba has always done things his own way since day one, a born Creator. From his childhood in France, to his return to Manchester United, he has made his own rules. Refusing to be anyone but himself and always bringing creativity and imagination to the game. Football needs creators. And Paul Pogba is the proof.” And here’s Pogba with a big goal for Manchester United. Ander Herrera chests the ball down to Paul Pogba who scores to make it 2-1 against Man City. |
