David Villa bends the ball into the open net after the Chilean keeper, Claudio Bravo, fails to clear the ball out of play. Still, it was not an easy finish, and Villa scores with his weaker left foot from 35 yards out.

This has to be one of the goals of the tournament. And again, it comes at a crucial moment for Spain, as the game was starting to get a bit tense. Villa has been a key figure for Spain, picking up the slack for Torres, who still getting over a knee injury.


 

Iniesta, who got Spain’s second goal, had this to say about Villa’s goal:

“David’s goal was very important because it occurred at a time when it was very uncomfortable for us,” Iniesta said. “After the goal, we felt more comfortable on the pitch.”
