In some Muslim countries women can’t even go to or watch soccer games at the stadium. Below is a great shot of girls playing the beautiful game. Hopefully these rules start to change and we’ll see more girls in Muslim countries playing soccer and going to soccer matches.
You’d think these rules would have changed a long time ago. What’s amazing and takes incredible courage is a lot of these girls who are playing soccer now are taking a risk just by kicking a soccer ball if they have rule in their country saying they can’t play soccer.
Hopefully we’ll see some majority Muslim counties fielding women’s soccer teams in the World Cup and having success so they inspire young girls in their country to play. The moment is going viral online as a great example of sportsmanship. Opponents huddle around soccer player so she can fix her hijab. Let more muslim girls play soccer!
