Field size: 30 yards by 20 yards Number of players: full team with 3 players per group Age range: 6-8 Description: Players try to pass or shoot the ball into a set of cones and knock as many cones as they can over, just like in bowling. Split up into groups or teams and come up with team names. The winner moving on to play the other winners of the other soccer bowling groups. This way more players get a chance to ‘bowl’ or shoot. Setup four or five cones about ten to twenty yards away like they are the pins in bowling. Vary the passer/shooters distance from the cones according to the player’s ability when you start the game. Maybe start out a few rounds at ten yards and then move to twenty yards away. Have the teams use their right foot one round and then the left the next or just the inside of the foot and then just the outside. Players keep track of how many cones they knock down in a round of three. You can play as teams or individually, with the individual winners move on. Having winners move on gives the players something to strive for, and is not meant in anyway as a put down to the other players. Rather, you want your players to try to do their best in all drills. Equipment needed: Cones and practice vests.
