Leonardo Elbow on Tab Ramos

Brazil’s Leonardo elbows Tab Ramos on the sidelines. This probably goes down as one of the most blatant and gruesome red cards in World Cup history. Especially when you consider this was a blow to the head. Ramos suffered a skull fracture in this 1994 World Cup game after the Brazilian Leonardo swung his elbow into his head.

Ramos ended up missing out on playing for Real Betis when they were promoted to La Liga. So, it could be said that the injury prevented Ramos from playing top-flight football in Spain. Really, the elbow changed the entire soccer career for Tab Ramos.

Leonardo is now the head coach of AC Milan, where he played and acted as a scout when he retired. It is said that his Brazilian influence helped AC Milan sign Kaka and Pato. Leonardo has since apologized, but don’t think that helps too much when you take into account what Ramos lost.
