Ricardo Clark Pre-Brazil Final Interview

At just 26 years old, Clark could be signed by a European side. His play in the Confederations Cup has to give him some hope that he could get signed by an EPL side.

On the eve of the Confederations Cup final in Johannesburg, USA midfielder Ricardo Clark talks exclusively about the match, his role in stopping Kaka’, and how he’d like to play in the Premier League. For more on the US National Team, visit http://www.goal.com

For Clark, who has seemed to settle down a bit, he’s calmer on the ball and confident with his passes, the future is bright. It was his exceptional pass to Donovan to start the counter attack that led to the second goal against Brazil in the final. It was a marvelous ball up the middle to lead Donovan.

But his aggressive play sometimes gets the better of him. It’s both his best quality, tough and constantly challenging for the ball, but also his Achilles heel.

Clark was given a red card against Italy in the first game of the Confederations Cup, after his clumsily fouled Italian midfielder Gennaro Gattuso. A player he probably wants to emulate and whose styles of player are most similar. If anything, Clark does not back down nor is he afraid of anyone. A quality that every teams needs in at least one player.

And then there’s the infamous red card for kicking Carlos Ruiz in a MLS match a few years ago.
