Robin van Persie’s Lovely First Touch

One thing all soccer coaches will tell you is you have to have a perfect first touch if you want to play pro soccer. Ryan Giggs, who is edging closer and closer to 40 years old, bends in a perfect ball for Robin van Persie to latch on to and he does. What stands out though is Van Persie’s first touch – it’s in stride and out in front of him. He cushions the ball with his left foot and then takes a look at where the keeper is and strikes the ball low and to the corner with his right.
