History: José Mourinho (full name: José Mário dos Santos Mourinho Félix; often referred to as The Special One, especially by the media, from a misinterpretation of a quote) (born January 26, 1963 in Setúbal), son of Portuguese goalkeeper Felix Mourinho, is a football manager. He is currently the manager of Chelsea F.C. in West London.

For two consecutive years (2004 and 2005), Mourinho has been named as the world’s best football manager by the International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS). Currently, he is regarded as one of the best managers in the Premiership and in Europe. The Portuguese coach is also seen as the key to Chelsea’s form that saw them lift the Premiership title for the first time in fifty years. Mourinho is well-known for his self-belief and confidence, and has at times been a controversial figure.

Jose Mourinho Quotes:

‘I enjoy the work, I enjoy every minute of my professional life.’

‘I was nine or 10 years old and my father was sacked on Christmas Day. He was a manager, the results had not been good, he lost a game on December 22 or 23. On Christmas Day, the telephone rang and he was sacked in the middle of our lunch.’

‘The way I use to develop an aerobic condition is three against three, man to man, in a square 20 metres by 20.’

‘When I go to the press conference before the game, in my mind the game has already started.’

“I’m not a defender of old or new football managers. I believe in good ones and bad ones, those that achieve success and those that don’t. Please don’t call me arrogant, but I’m European champion and I think I’m a special one.

“(If) the club decides to sack me because of bad results that is part of the game. If that happens I will be a millionaire and I will get another club a couple of months later.”

“How is it not possible (to get) penalties against Manchester United and not possible (to get) penalties in favour of Chelsea?”

“I think I have the right to speak because I say the truth.”

“Maybe one day when I become 60 and maybe one day when I am in the same league for 20 years and I know everybody and everybody respects me a lot I will have this power to speak and people tremble a little bit.”
