Trinity Rodman’s goal versus England called offsides for some reason. Looking at the Rodman goal it’s hard to see how the referee made the offside call. It’s really a shame too, cause it’s an all around great goal by the United States team that would have tied the game up. Rodman lets the soccer ball run through to Sophia Smith who then plays a ball across to Megan Rapinoe who dummy/flicks the ball to Rodman.

And then the joy on Rodman’s face when she slots the ball home. Just a terrible offsides call that changed the game. What the game did show is Rodman is going to be a star and only get better. She showed she can play in big games in front of 90,000 people at Wembley stadium. Her dad is surely proud of her. Oddly, the referee made the Rodman offsides call after a VAR check but never went over to look at the video herself.

Alex Morgan out injured is also wondering why the Rodman goal was called offsides:
I can’t see any offside in that play. And the ref didn’t even check the video herself. Anyone else wondering why exactly the goal was called back? 🧐

And it doesn’t appear that Sophia Smith is in an offside position either:
