In what was perhaps the cleverest of rubbing your nose in it types of moves, Pep Guardiola sent on little known Sergi Roberto for David Villa in the 90th minute of their 2-0 Champions League match win versus Real Madrid at the Bernabeu stadium. Mourinho must have been livid at this gesture. It was as if Guardiola said, ‘I’m going to send one of my youngsters just because I can.’ Roberto is a midfielder for the Barcelona B team, who is just 19 years old. To top it all off, Roberto turned down an offer from Real Madrid at age 14 and came over to join the Barcelona youth factory, La Masia. What with Iniesta out injured, Guardiola called up Roberto to fill his place and maybe, just maybe, inserted him into the game to send a message to the Real Madrid’s top brass and Jose Mourihho that he is their player and Real Madrid can’t have him.
