Alex Morgan Goal Versus ItalyThis is what you call taking a chance, believing that your teammate is going to get her head to the ball and flick it on. Alex Morgan came off the bench in the 86′ minute to score the game winner in the 94′ minute. Morgan, just 21 years old, the youngest player on the team, who still play for UC Berkley, slots the ball home smartly after Abby Wambach flicked the ball through. But it’s the run Morgan makes, she doesn’t wait for the ball to get there, rather she anticipates that Wambach is going to flick the ball. And, she has the composure to strike the ball low and hard to the far post.
This US now returns to Chicago to play Italy one more time to see who will go to the World Cup. But the goal by Morgan certainly takes the pressure off. Take about a big time goal. Wow. |
