Eboué Gets Booed

Eboué Gets Booed

Emmanuel Eboue had a rough one this past weekend. The Ivory Coast midfielder was booed as he exited the game having come on 60 minutes earlier as a substitute. Much like Ashley Cole, playing for England, the boos rained down on Eboue after he gave the ball away repeatedly and tackled Toure, his own teammate, when they failed to connect on an exchange.

Seems like Wenger could have kept him on the final minutes, and not made him endure the cheers when his number was called as a substitute, but he’s said Eboue will play this next week in the Champions League against Porto. Hopefully he can score a goal and silence his detractors. If it’s one thing people love is a player who redeems himself. Fans are more than happy to forgive and forget when someone plays well.

As usual, Arsene Wenger put it best.

"On Saturday I think they (the fans) were so nervous as well. They expressed that and took Eboue as a target. The crowd was overall behind the team but not Eboue. What happened to him was at the moment there were five, six minutes to go and we couldn’t keep the ball any more.
