Ecuador’s Marlon de Jesus: The Epic Miss

Don’t feel bad if you miss an easy shot sometime this week. It can’t be as bad as this miss by Marlon de Jesus in the match between Ecuador and Uruguay in the South American Under-20 World Cup.

And no, he wasn’t playing defense and trying to clear the ball. What’s worse though is when this miss came in the match, in the 88th minute with the game tied 1-1. This might just go down as the miss of 2011.

 

In some ways though I can see how he missed. The ball is coming in fast and he only has a moment to react. But all he had to do was get in front of the ball and just redirect it into the open net. I guess you can’t feel too bad for him.
